Program Overview
Pria
provides services for children ages 24 months to 6 years within an
existing private school setting. Our program uses the model of applied
behavior analysis, and students receive one-on-one instruction within a
nurturing environment that focuses on positive reinforcements.
-
Instruction is individualized for each student according to his or her specific
developmental needs, which includes the collaboration of all domains
of learning: cognitive skills, speech and language skills,
socialization skills, play skills, fine and gross motor skills,
occupational therapy, and self-help skills.
-
Opportunities for interactions with peers are
provided whenever possible during the initial stages of the program.
-
When developmentally appropriate, each student is
enrolled at our sister preschool; inclusion being one of the primary
objectives of the program. Students join their appropriate peer
groups with an instructor (known as a “shadow”) in the regular
classrooms to promote generalization, the acquisition of skills, and
social interactions.
Intensive early intervention that would allow
children to be successful should not prevent them from engaging and
interacting with their larger community. Pria provides such an
environment that integrates all the needed services under one big tent
to maximize each child’s potential.
